Jim Sievert, President of the Northern New England Safety and Health Council
Jim started his working career as a construction ironworker from Local 404 out of Harrisburg, PA. Two years later he entered the US Army and was selected as a nuclear weapons specialist and was honorable discharged.
He started his safety career at Eddystone, PA in 1973 as an assistant safety engineer. Within ten months he received a promotion and transfer to Willow Island WV where he began to lead their safety program for the project. It was during this time that he earned his degree in Safety Management.
Jim was transferred to New Hampshire to become part of the Seabrook Station’s System Completion Department.
In 1985 he changed careers and became a senior loss control specialist for Cigna Insurance Company receiving a promotion to manager within 22 months. He has been a loss control manager ever since and is now the Home Office Manager for Acadia Insurance Company.
Jim currently serves as President of the Northern New England Safety and Health Council. This is a group of over 600 companies voluntarily joined together to promote safety and health in home, workplace, community and highway.
Come and hear him speak on how important it is to keep up our safety and health measures in the workplace during these trying economic times.
